Results of the Project
In December 2007, the team decided to put into place its own Reference Center to be able to offer to the children and adolescents a space to receive direct psychological attention as well as academic reinforcement.
The Center is currently staffed with 2 psychologists, a social worker, 2 teachers responsible for academic reinforcement and 10 students in their last semester at the Pedagogic Institute of Loreto and the College of Psychology.
The implementation of the Iquitos Reference Center and the maintenance of the locale provided by the Municipality of the Reference Center of San Juan Bautista has allowed us to offer both the planned educational services in mathematics and communication, as well as the development of additional recreational activities that allow for the integration, identification and relationship of the beneficiaries with the project and the services that the project offers them.
Almost two years into the project, more than 500 children and adolescents have received one or more of the services offered by the project, as much in the reference center as in the 11 educational centers which the project has been working with, in the districts of San Juan Bautista and Punchana, in the city of Iquitos.
Workshop on Life-Skills: During 2007, more than 300 beneficiaries received this service. This year its goal is to serve 450 beneficiaries.
Workshop for Mathematics, Communication and Academic Reinforcement: The service currently assists 44 beneficiaries on a consistent basis, divided by academic grade.
